100 percent Examination of All Consignments of China Origin Goods

·      Port Clearance of China Origin Goods Arrested

Emergency Action Required

You will be happy to know that the action on the China supply chain has begun as all consignments of China origin goods are being detained at ports for 100 percent examination. Action began at midnight of last night.

So the $60 bn China supply line is under attack.

Jai ho!

The main trade body for the electronics and mobile industry, to bring to your emergent notice that all China origin import of the electronics industry which total to USD 21 billion every year have come under adverse action by customs at the ports requiring 100 percent examination. The logistics of seamless movement is in total disarray.

We understand instructions from a Central Government agency were sent for full examination of China origin goods by customs in select lines .at all ports. Thus essential parts, components and accessories required for manufacture in the 268 or so factories which came up following the adoption of Phased Manufacturing Programme (PMP) in the mobile industry are in the hit list. . We fear that if the supply chain is broken there will be severe shortage of essential communication and education goods like Smartphones and laptops since alternative supplies are not available in the local and global markets. Further, these goods are contributing valuable customs duty and IGST to the Central and State exchequers.

We have received a word from Chennai airport and Delhi Airport about the new examination procedure for all China origin consignments of being. subject to 100 percent examination since midnight of last night.

In the normal dispensation, goods are cleared automatically without examination in the case of regular importers duly recognised under AEO system. The RMS computer software gives auto clearance with  delivery order for users is collect the goods direct from the port itself after auto payment of duty, the auto route is a faceless 24 x 7 clearance system under the "ease of doing business" initiative of the Government . We understand that even goods already cleared and loaded in trucks for transport to the users' warehouse are being recalled and examined.

While more details are being gathered we request you to please have the matter examined and the 100 percent examination of only China origin goods be stopped so the supply chain moves without hurdles. You may recall that the Hon"ble Prime Minister has given instructions to unlock manufacturing and movement of goods in the supply chain to revive employment and stop the shrinking of the economy. There are enough checks on inputs in the system, there little likelihood of any danger from China origin imports. Of course, dumping actions have to be checked, this is best done by law

This is a serious emergency and let us remove the supply chain hurdles in the way of manufacturing.
