Customs Officers Asked to Check Fake IMEI Number in Imported Mobile by using ICDR 2020 System SOP Devised by DoT, Cus IV in CBIC will give Login to Field Officers

·         MSAI Dropped as the IMEI Issuing Authority from 28.01.2020

·         IMEI Certificate Genuineness will be checked with physical sampling of 1% max 10 Nos

Subject :- Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) (Version 1.1) for “Implementation of Central Government notification prohibiting import of mobile phones with duplicate, fake and non-genuine International Mobile Equipment Identity”

Kind reference is invited to copy of Office Memorandum dated 04.07.2022 received from Department of Telecommunication, Ministry of Communication, New Delhi, on the above subject, enclosing therewith with a copy of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) (Version 1.1) for “Implementation of Central Government notification prohibiting import of mobile phones with duplicate, fake and non-genuine International Mobile Equipment Identity” (copy enclosed).

2. Vide the above stated OM, Department of Telecommunication has informed that the SOP version 1.0 has been modified appropriately due to operationalization of new system i.e. Indian Counterfeited Device Restriction (ICDR) system w.e.f. 28.01.2020 and has attached copy of the above stated SOP (Version 1.1) as Annexure -I to the above stated OM.

3. It is hereby requested that necessary action may be taken to sensitize officers under your jurisdictions regarding the above mentioned modified SOP (Version 1.1) issued from Department of Telecommunications.

4. The Customs Officers requiring login to the system may send the details details (i.e. Name, Designation, Email id, Mobile no., Port Name, Port Code, State/UT and Preferred Login ID) to uscus4.dor@gov.in latest by 12.07.2022.

5. The difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this Instruction may be brought to the notice of the Board.
