from 26 to 28 November 2011
The following Public Notice was issued by the
Commissioner of Customs (Import) Jawaharlal Nehru Customs House on 25th
November 2011.
[Customs
Public Notice No. 140 dated 25th November 2011]
This is to bring to the notice of
all concerned that IT infrastructure on which CBEC’s business application run
is provisioned from Primary Data Centre (DC) at New Delhi. An alternate data centre (Disaster Recovery Site or DR site) has also been
set up at Chennai to keep the business applications running even if the DC is
not available because of any reason.
2. It
is to bring to the notice of all concerned that a Recovery Simulation Drill is
planned to test the scenario when the DC is unavailable and we may need to
actually run the CBEC’s business application from DR site so that the clearance
of consignments can continue even during such an event. Your active
co-operation is solicited to make this exercise successful.
Objectives of Recovery Simulation Drill
i. To test whether operations can be resumed from DR
site, in case any disaster occurs at DC.
ii. To test whether application data is made available at
the DR site in the same state as it was available in the DC at the time of
disaster.
iii. To test whether transactions can be recovered at the
DR site.
iv. To test whether all functionality of ICES 1.5
application is available from the DR site.
3. CBEC’s
recovery Simulation Drill is planned from Saturday
i.e., 26.11.2011 1900 Hrs to Monday
i.e., 28.11.2011 0800 Hrs. Due to this ICES 1.5 production will not be
available from 1900 Hrs
onwards on 26.11.2011 (Saturday)
except for the location identified for testing during the drill. In view of
this the following advisory is issued to all ICES 1.5 locations:
I. All
are advised to clear maximum consignments by 1800 Hrs on 26.11.2011(Saturday).
II. Banking
transactions should be completed by 1700

would be aware of the procedure to be followed during the production downtime
in the ICES 1.5.
IV. ICES
1.5 is expected to be fully operational by 1000 Hrs on 28.11.2011 (Monday).
