Participants from 17 Countries Participated in 'Competence of Laboratories and their
Management Systems' training programme of Bureau of India Standards

attended the 13th International Training Programme on 'Competence of
Laboratories and their Management Systems
Thirty
three participants from 17 countries, mainly from African, Caribbean
and Asian regions, attended the 13th International Training Programme on 'Competence
of Laboratories and their Management Systems' organized by the National Institute
of Training for Standardization (NITS), the training wing of Bureau of Indian Standards
(BIS).
The 3-week training programme
was held at NITS Campus at Noida. During the training programme the participants
were apprised of 'ISO/IEC – 17025:2017 General requirements for the competence of
testing and Calibration laboratories and Resource requirements' along with the requirements
of Proficiency Testing, Risk Management, Legal Metrology, Calibration, Measurement
Uncertainty and Good Laboratory Practices etc.; and are also provided the practical
exposure through visits to laboratories.
NITS is considered as the premier
Institute imparting training on various facets of Standardization and Conformity
assessment. The institute has been organising international training programmes
on standardization and quality assurance for the developing countries of Asia, Africa,
Europe and Latin America every year since 1968 under the ITEC programme of the Ministry
of External affairs, Government of India.
Training programmes on Management
Systems and Laboratory Quality Management Systems are also being conducted by BIS
through NITS since 2004 and 2011 respectively.
The 53rd international training
programme on Standardization and Conformity assessment, organized from 14th November,
2022 to 9th December, 2022, also witnessed participation from 14 countries.
