Subject: NOC for
release of Infrared Thermometer due to spread of COVID-19 pandemic- Relaxation
in procedure under Legal Metrology Act, 2009
Attention
of the Importers, Trade, Customs Brokers and all the stake holder is invited to
Clarification No.I-9/20/2020-W&M dated 07.04.2020 issued by Deputy
Director, Legal Metrology, Min of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public
Distribution, Govt of India on compliance of provisions of Legal Metrology Act,
2009 and Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011, as applicable to Infrared
Thermometers (Electrical Thermometer) .

In view of said Clarification dated 07.04.2020,the importers may clear the consignment
of Infrared Thermometer with the condition that they will comply with all the requirement
of Legal Metrology Act and Rules made thereunder within three months of the clearance
. Format of undertaking to be furnished on the letter head of the Importer are enclosed
to this PN (Annex).

Importers availing this facility shall ensure that the undertaking furnished in
lieu of bond is duly replaced with a proper bond before 07.05.2020. PRO Section
shall keep record of such undertaking and ensure that the undertaking is duly
replaced by proper Bond within stipulated time period i.e, 07.05.2020
4).
All trade associations/members of Customs Brokers Association are requested to take
note and publicize the contents of this Public Notice among their members/ constituents.
5).
For the departmental officers, this may be treated as Standing Order.
6).
Difficulty, if any, faced in implementation of this Public Notice may be
brought to the notice of the Additional/ Joint Commissioner of Customs(PRO),
Import, ACC, Mumbai.
