Subject: Export Policy of Onions.
In exercise of powers conferred by
Section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992 (No. 22
of 1992), as amended read with Para 1.3 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2009-2014,
the Central Government hereby makes the following amendment, with immediate
effect, in the Chapter 7 of Schedule 2 of ITC(HS)
Classification of Export & Import Items relating to export of onion.
2. In Chapter 7 of Schedule 2 of ITC(HS) Classification of Export & Import Items the
column under the heading “Export Policy” in respect of Serial Number 51 and 52
relating to export of onion is amended to read as “Free” in place of “STE”.
Accordingly the Note 1 below the Table gets deleted. The Table would now be as
under:

Note 1 Reference to onions in this
chapter includes onions fresh or chilled frozen, provisionally preserved or
dried.

3. Effect of this notification:
Export of onion has been made free.
Earlier export of onion at Sl. No. 51 & 52 was permitted through STEs.
