BIS Agrees to Withdraw CRO Surveillance on Electronic Goods in
future but will not Stop Actions in Progress
[BIS Ref: Registration/G-10 dated 14 June
2022]
Sub: Market surveillance of products covered under
Compulsory Registration Scheme
This has reference to our circular of even no. date 28
April 2022 on the aforementioned subject.
In this connection, it has been informed by MeitY that they will continue to do the routine
surveillance of the products covered under CRS and have advised BIS to keep the
surveillance process in abeyance.
As advised by MeitY, the
surveillance of the products under their purview has been kept in abeyance.
However, since BIS had already initiated the process of drawl
of samples, the same was completed. The samples of a few consumer items were
drawn which are being tested in BIS recognized laboratories.
The concerned licensees will have to pay the sample cost,
testing charges as well as the overhead in accordance the provisions laid down
in BIS Conformity Assessment Regulations 2018 and the approved guidelines. The
details will be shared with the concerned licensees in due course.
The DDs of the licensees who paid the surveillance cost
will be returned to them in case their samples have not been drawn.
