BIS Standards for Toys Not to Apply on
Artisans or Toys Registered as Geographical Indicators

4514(E).—In exercise of the
powers conferred by sub-sections (1) and (2) of section 16 read with subsection
(3) of section 25 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016), the
Central Government, after consulting the Bureau, is of the opinion that it is
necessary so to do in the public interest, hereby makes the following Order
further to amend the Toys (Quality Control) Order, 2020, namely:-

Short title and commencement.– (1) This Order may be called the Toys (Quality Control)
Second Amendment Order, 2020.

It shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

In the Toys (Quality Control) Order, 2020, in Paragraph 3, after the proviso, the following proviso shall be inserted,
namely:-
“Provided further that nothing in this
Order shall apply to goods or articles manufactured and sold by Artisans
registered with Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), under
Ministry of Textiles, Government of India:
Provided further that nothing in this Order shall apply
to goods or articles manufactured and sold by Registered proprietor and Authorised user of a product registered as Geographical
Indication by the Registrar of Geographical Indications, Office of Controller
General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks (CGPDTM), under Department for
Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry,
Government of India.
