CAIT in War against Arbitrariness of E-commerce Portals
*40-day aggressive national movement across County from
20 Nov *
The Confederation of All India Traders (CAT) has
announced on 19 November, 2020 to launch a 40-day aggressive national movement
across Country from 29th November till 31st December against arbitrary business
practices and constant violation of FDI policy by e-commerce majors in India.
Announcing the agitation at New Delhi today, Mr. B.C. Bhartia,
National President and Mr. Praveen Khandelwal,
Secretary General of CAIT said that the movement aims to expose the e-commerce
companies who are openly flouting the policies of the government without any
fear of the law & rules and demanding the Government not to sit as silent
spectator and initiate penal proceedings against these e commerce majors who
are following a sinister design to directly or indirectly control & monopolise the retail trade of India. They also said that
through this movement, the traders across Country will impress upon the
Government to immediately announce an e-commerce policy, constitute an
e-commerce Regulatory Authority and declaration of a new Press Note by
abolishing flaws of Press Note 2 of the FDI policy.
Mr. Bhartia and Mr. Khandelwal said that big e-commerce companies are indulging
into predatory pricing, deep discounting, controlling inventory of goods, and
selling exclusive products having an unholy nexus with Brand owned companies on
their respective portals ruining greatly the small businesses of the Country.
Mr. Bhartia and Mr Khandelwal also turn their guns towards several banks who
are providing cash back & discount services to these portals in a
clandestine manner much against the mandate of RBI. We are not going g to spare
such Banks also and they will have to face the consequences of entering an
unholy alliance with these portals. They also charged that large number of data
is acquired by these e commerce companies in an unauthorised
way and this issue will also be highlighted during the national movement.
Mr. Bhartia and Mr. Khandelwal said that these e-commerce companies are
economic terrorists and they want to dominate the Indian economy, which the
traders of India will not allow to happen and will be strongly opposed
throughout the country. They also said that these companies are the second
version of the East India Company, which wants to move the country towards
economic slavery by capturing and controlling Indian retail market. Neither we
will sit silent nor will allow Central or State Government to sit on the
matter.
We seven crore traders of the Country provides direct
employment to 40 crore people and playing a very crucial and important role in
Indian economy and therefore we can’t be cowed down with mal- practices of big
e commerce majors any more. Either that have to comply with
the law and rules or else they will have to leave India - said Mr. Bhartia and Mr Khandelwal
