CBIC Chairman Post will Fall Vacant month July end, as Vivek Johri Retires

Vivek Johri of 1985 batch of IRS to retire next month..the fight for Chairman post is now between 1988 batch officers Sanjay Agarwal, Rajiv Talwar, and Shashank Priya and Alok Shukla, all members of the Board.

Rajiv Talwar, currently member customs has 17 more months to go before he retires as the Senior most in the 1988 batch is the front runner. The remaining three contenders have 29 more months to go before retirement. They are also in the batch of 1988 IRS entrants.

Vivek Johri has had a long innings as Chairman in which post he was in place for 19 long months.

Our sources say that Johri enjoyed little powers of late with the major portfolios distributed among other members of the Board. Sanjay Agarwal has the largest share in the pie and may be dark horse in the race, as of now.
