Chinese Taipei Initiates WTO Dispute
Complaint against Indian Tech Tariffs
Chinese Taipei has requested dispute consultations with
India regarding duties imposed by India on imports of certain information and
communications technology (ITC) goods. The request was
circulated to WTO members on 9 September.
Chinese Taipei claims India has imposed duties on eleven
categories of ITC products in excess of India's bound duty rates for the goods.
Thailand filed an appeal on 9 September concerning the
WTO compliance panel report in the case brought by the Philippines in “Thailand
— Customs and Fiscal Measures on Cigarettes from the Philippines — Second
Recourse to Article 21.5 of the DSU by the Philippines” (DS371). The compliance
panel report was circulated to WTO members on 12 July
2019.
