Copper Concentrates

Import of uranium or thorium ores and concentrates and radioactive chemical elements and radioactive isotopes (including the fissile or fertile chemical elements and isotopes) and their compounds; mixtures and residues containing these products is restricted and requires authorisation from Directorate General of Foreign Trade and, further, are subject to the provisions of Atomic Energy Act, 1962 and rules made there under.

The Government is not aware of any private company importing copper concentrates stained with uranium from Australia.

The Minister of State in the ministry of Personnel, PG & Pensions and in the Prime Minister’s Office V. Narayanasamy Gave this information in reply to a written question in the Lok Sabha on 20 March 2013.
