Fourth Lady Commissioner Joins CBEC

There are already three lady officers in the Board namely, Ms. Sheila Sangwan, Member (Budget & Computerization), Ms. Sreela Ghosh, Member (Service Tax & GST) and Ms. Praveen Mahajan, Member (P & V).

The President of India is pleased to appoint Ms. J.M. Shanti Sundharam, IRS (C&CE: 77) as Member of the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) in the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance in the pay scale of Rs. 80,000/- (fixed) with the status of Special Secretary to the Government of India against the vacancy arising on superannuation of Shri Rajesh Dhingra on 30-11-2011 (AN), from the date of her taking over charge of the post, until further orders of her superannuation, whichever is earlier.

2. The appointment of Ms. J.M. Shanti Sundharam, IRS (C&CE: 77), as Member, CBEC is subject to the decision in the Original Application No. 3929 of 2011 filed by Shri Vineet Ohri, Chief Commissioner of Customs (Preventive), Delhi, before the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Principal Bench, New Delhi.
