MRP of Urea Up by Rs. 50 PMT to Incentivise Retail, Dealer to give SMS
Acknowledgement of Fertilizer Receipt
The CCEA decision to increase the MRP of urea by
2.50 per bag or 50 PMT is to provide an incentive to the retailer to give the
acknowledgement of the fertilizers that he has received from the
manufacturer/importer or whole seller. This is in the context of the phased
implementation of the project for Direct transfer of
subsidy to farmers. The retailers are supposed to acknowledge the receipt of
the fertilizers either through the SMS based application or through the web
application. This phase is currently getting consolidated and will lead to the
greater transparency in the movement of fertilizers and availability at the
farm gate. It also aims to prevent black marketing and use of subsidized urea
fertilizers for industrial purpose.
