transactions, with value of Rs 10.42 lakh crore

In MSIPS, as on 31st,
May 2022, 320 applications with proposed investment of Rs
89,232 crore are under consideration. Out of these 320 applications, 314
applications with proposed investment of approximately Rs.
86,824 crore have been approved

Incentives of Rs 1774.47 crore have been disbursed to 114 applicants.

Electronics Private Limited with proposed investment of Rs
596 crore has been done in the month of May, 2022
The significant developments pertaining to Ministry of
Electronics and Information Technology for the month of May, 2022 are as given
below:
1. Digital Payments
During May 2022, BHIM-UPI has continued to show upward
trend by recording over 595 crore transactions, with value of Rs 10.42 lakh crore, which indicates the increasing
adoption of BHIM UPI as the preferred mode for making digital payment
transactions.
2. International
Cooperation
The 2nd G20 DEWG (Digital Economy Working Group) meeting
was held on 17-
19 May 2022 (Hybrid Mode) under Indonesian Presidency for
Way Forward and Realizing a Stronger Post-COVID-19 Recovery through People-Centred Digital Connectivity of the G20 Digital Ministers’
Declaration-“The Bali Package”.
3. Electronics
Manufacturing
(i)
Modified Special Incentives Package Scheme (MSIPS)
In MSIPS, as on 31st, May 2022, 320 applications with
proposed investment of Rs 89,232 crore are under
consideration. Out of these 320 applications, 314 applications with proposed
investment of approximately Rs. 86,824 crore have
been approved, 4 applications with proposed investment of approximately Rs. 315 crore have been recommended by the Appraisal
Committee for approval, and 2 applications with proposed investment of Rs 2,093 crore are under appraisal.
As on 31st May 2022, incentives of Rs
1774.47 crore have been disbursed to 114 applicants.
Approval of Bosch Automotive Electronics Private Limited
with proposed investment of Rs 596 crore has been
done in the month of May, 2022.
(ii) Electronics Manufacturing Clusters 2.0 (EMC 2.0)
Scheme:
Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) has
submitted application on 2nd May, 2022 for establishment of EMC over an area of
224.5 acres with an estimated project cost of Rs.
224.2 crore seeking financial assistance of Rs. 99.3
crore from Govt. of India.
(iii) Investment Promotion:
MeitY organised a Round Table
Discussion with Resident Commissioners under the Chairmanship of Hon’ble
Minister of State , Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar on 9th May, 2022, for ‘Achieving USD 300 Bn
Sustainable Electronics
Manufacturing and Exports by 2026’. The objective was to deliberate and
seek valuable feedback and suggestions for attracting investments in
electronics manufacturing sector towards achieving the target, so that India
can become a pioneering force in the global electronics manufacturing sector.
The Round Table discussion attracted active participation from Resident
Commissioners from various States including – Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Maharashtra,
Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand,
Haryana, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Tripura, Mizoram, Kerala,
Chhattisgarh, Sikkim and Assam.
4. National
Informatics Centre
Aarogya Setu –More than 21.63 crore users have downloaded Aarogya Setu App till May, 2022.
5. UIDAI
The cumulative number of authentication transactions
increased from 7358.44 crore in April 2022 to 7517.81 crore in May 2022 while
cumulative e-KYC transactions increased from 1174.64 crore in April 2022 to
1202.83 crore in May 2022.
