Nirmala Sitharaman Unveils Indian Trade Portal
The Minister of State (Independent Charge) Commerce
and Industry Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman today inaugurated a user-friendly Indian
Trade Portal (www.indiantradeportal.in) which is aimed at providing information
pertaining to Most-Favoured Nation (MFN) and preferential tariffs, rules
of origin, technical barriers to trade faced by Indian exporters at single
point.
Speaking at the inauguration, Smt. Sitharaman
expressed satisfaction over the fact that the Indian Trade Portal has been
updated to have a wider coverage of information for the Indian business
community at large. The Indian Trade Portal will make available important
data for use of exporters and importers at one place, in a user friendly manner
and this will contribute to ease of doing business for trade and industry.
The Minister urged exporters to make best use of
the portal, give continuous feedback for further improvement and additional
details that they may need. Smt. Sitharaman said that the Ministry welcomes
suggestions and will continue to work for the updation and improvement of the
portal. The portal will also facilitate exports and will help Indian
exporters to utilise the Free Trade Agreements (FTAs).
The Indian Trade Portal is
an initiative of the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce &
Industry, Government of India. The portal has been developed and maintained by
Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO).
