One percent GM Material Allowed in GM Free Certificate for Food
Grains and Pulse Import
As informed in previous circulars, the Indian authorities are
requiring a non GMO free certificate for consignments which are dispatched to
country on or after 1st March 2021, for those crops listed in Annex 1,
including wheat, maize, argentine canola, beans, polish canola, rice,
safflower, soyabean to list a few.
Today, we have received a copy of a notification (from 8th Feb)
further clarifying this policy which confirms that a 1% tolerance limit for adventitious presence of
GMOs will be permissible in imported food crop consignments as listed in the
Annex 1 (21.8.2020).
