Regional
Authorities Meet with DGFT for Mid Term Policy under New DGFT

In order to take stock of
the exports situation in the post GST regime, a meeting of all Regional
Authorities of Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) and the SEZ
Commissioners under the chairmanship of Director General of Foreign Trade, is
being held on 10th and 11th August, 2017 in New Delhi.
Regional Authorities, which
are interfacing with the exporter community, will deliberate and give specific
suggestions on GST and Mid-Term review of Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2015-20.
These include measures for boosting employment generation, continued capacity
building of export oriented Medium and Small Enterprises (MSMEs) and various
concerns of exporters while importing raw materials under the GST regime. Also,
measures to simplify the various applications under the Foreign Trade Policy,
including IEC, ANFs (Aayat Niryat
Forms) and other procedural steps to facilitate “ease of doing business” are
being deliberated. The focus of the meeting is to clarify to Regional
Authorities about various aspects of GST and to gain field-level stakeholder
inputs on Mid-Term Review of Foreign Trade Policy so as to enhance export. This
is expected to growth momentum achieved recently in India’s exports is
maintained and the export of goods and services remain competitive in the
International market.
