Bansals of
Realty Co M3M Arrested
The
Enforcement Directorate on Thursday (15.06.2023) arrested Basant Bansal and
Pankaj Bansal, promoters of the M3M realty group, in a case related to bribing
a special CBI/ED judge. The promoters of M3M are also accused of laundering Rs
400 crore received from Ireo developers.
"ED
initiated investigation on the basis of the FIR registered by Anti-Corruption
Branch, Panchkula, Haryana. As per the FIR, reliable information was received
that Sudhir Parmar (posted as special judge for CBI and ED cases in Panchkula
at the material time) was showing favouritism to the accused persons namely Roop Kumar Bansal, his brother Basant Bansal, the owners of
M3M, and Lalit Goyal, the owner of Ireo group in lieu
of undue advantage extended by Sudhir Parmar in the criminal cases of ED under
PMLA and other cases of CBI pending against the above accused persons in his
court," the agency claimed soon after the arrest.
Interestingly,
Basant Bansal and Pankaj Bansal had obtained interim protection from arrest
till July 5 from Delhi High Court in connection with the ED's ongoing money
laundering probe in the Ireo case in which their
brother Roop Bansal was arrested last week.
The
accused were produced before the designated PMLA court in Panchkula which
granted five-day custody to the agency.
