Praveen Mahajan Appointed as Chairperson of CBEC

Ms Praveen Mahajan has been appointed Chairperson of CBEC on 9 August 2012 and has assumed regular charge of Chairperson of CBEC. (It may be recalled that she was acting as CBEC chair from 1 August 2012 following the retirement of S.K. Goel on 31 July. The regular appointment was kept on hold pending clearance of some cases against her. It seems that of she is fully in the clear now. Dutt Majumdar, the CBEC Chairman before S.K. Goel too had to go through the acting chairman routine before confirmation as full chairman).
