Crude Falls but Rupee Value Steady

The international crude oil price for Indian Basket as computed/published on 25 June by the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas declined to US$ 89.19 /barrel (bbl) on 22.6.2012.The price was lower than US$ 90.18 /bbl on the previous trading day of 21.6.2012.

In rupee terms also, the crude oil price recorded a marginal fall to Rs 5082.94 per bbl on 22.06.2012 from Rs 5087.96 per bbl on 21.06.2012. This was due to decrease in the price in dollar terms as rupee depreciation moderated the gains with rupee-dollar exchange rate on 22.06.2012 at Rs 56.99 /US$ against Rs 56.42/US$ on 21.06.2012.
