R.K. Apparels Kolkata Booked for Rs. 150 Lakhs Cenvat

Acting on an Intelligence, Officers of Hdqr. Anti-Evasion Unit of Kolkata-I Commissionerate visited the factory cum office premises of M/s R. K. Apparels, 19, Amaratala Street, 3rd Floor, Kolkata-700001 on 20.12.2012 for enquiry. During enquiry it revealed that above M/s R. K. Apparels have removed gents readymade garments bearing their own brand name “Impact” without payment of cenvat duty even after crossing threshold limit of Rs. 150 lakhs in terms of small scale exemption Notification No. 08/2003-CE dated 01.03.2003 as amended. The proprietor of M/s R. K. Apparels have admitted the interpretation and Evasion of cenvat duty, have applied for central excise On-line registration on-spot and have voluntarily paid an amount of rupees 15,00,000=00 (Rupees Fifteen Lakhs Only) towards their duty, interest and penalty liability through cheques on Ad-hoc basis. Further investigation is in progress.
