Validity Period of Duty Credit Scrips Issued under Chapter 3 Raised to 24 Months Applies to All Scrips under Ch.3 of FTP Irrespective of the FTP Period

This is with reference to the Public Notice 33 dated 23.10.2017, vide which the validity of Chapter 3 scrips issued on or after 01.01.2016 have been increased to 24 months. This Directorate has been receiving representations from the Trade seeking clarification whether this increased validity is applicable to scrips issued under Chapter 3 of the FTP of other policy periods or not.

2. The matter has been examined. It is noted that all chapter 3 scrips are being issued under the provisions of the Handbook of Procedures 2015-20, which has been amended in the Public Notice 33 dated 23.10.2017. In view of above, the members of the Trade and the Customs field formations may please note that the Public Notice 33 dated 23.10.2017 applies to all scrips issued under Chapter 3 of FTP irrespective of the FTP period.

3. Further, this is also to inform that such scrip holders are not required to approach the RAs with the said scrips for any amendment in the validity period.
