Nutmeg and Mace Exports – Aflatoxin Test

The following Public Notice was issued by the
Commissioner of Customs (Export) Jawaharlal Nehru Custom House on 23rd November
2010.
Sub: Rapid
Alert Notification from the EU on Aflatoxin-Mandatory
Sampling, Testing & Certification of Nutmeg and mace.
Attention
of exporters and other concerned is invited to Spices
Board’s Circular No. MD/CHI/02/2009/5065 dated 25.10.2009 making it mandatory that
the consignment of Nutmeg and Mace which do not contain aflatoxin
beyond the acceptable level will only be permitted at Customs point for export
based on the submission of the Cleared analytical report issued by the Spices
Board.
2. However on request of
exporters, the matter has been further examined by Spice Board and now it has
been decided that the sampling, testing and certification on compliance of aflatoxin levels will be mandatory for export of Nutmeg,
Nutmeg products and Mace only from 01.01.2011.
3. Any difficulty, if faced, in
the implementation of this Public Notice may be brought to the notice of the
undersigned.
