Demurrage Charges Waived during EDI Changeover to ICES ver 1.5
The following Public Notice was
issued by the Commissioner of Customs (Export) Jawaharlal Nehru Custom House on
5th April 2011.

Sub: Request to waive charges during implementation of 1.5 version for additional period of holding the cargo in the
CFS.
Attention of all the members of Trade and Industry and the CFSs is
invited to the ongoing project of migration of EDI system to 1.5 version of ICES. A communication has been sent to all CFS
requesting them to waive the demurrage and detention charges during
implementation of 1.5 version for additional period of
holding the cargo in the CFS.
2. In terms of Regulation 5(1) of
Handling of Cargo in Customs Area Regulations, 2009, all Customs Cargo Service
Providers are required to provide interalia hardware,
networking and other equipments etc. As many of the CFSs are still in the
process of installing the required hardware and software like obtaining
connectivity through MPLS, printers etc, delays in delivery of cargo are
expected in some cases. In all such cases of delay due to non procurement/non
installation of hardware/software required for 1.5 version, a certificate will
be issued by the AC/DC (Export) of respective CFSs. All the CFSs are directed to waive the
demurrage and detention charges on the basis of said certificate.
3. Any difficulties faced in this
regard may be brought to the notice of undersigned immediately.
