Enron Resurfaces as Dabhol Port Notified for
Machinery Import for NTPC Led Ratnagiri Gas and Power

amendment revises the permitted activities at Dabhol
Port, Maharashtra, expressly covering LNG and naphtha unloading,
power-project machinery handling, and specified import-export and shipyard
operations involving vessels and rigs.
1.
Amendment to Customs Notification
o
CBIC has amended Notification No. 62/1994-Customs
(N.T.) concerning the specification of customs ports.
o
The amendment relates to Serial No. 8 for the
State of Maharashtra, replacing the existing entry for Dabhol
Port.
2.
Permitted Operations at Dabhol
Port
The
revised entry specifies the following activities:
o
Machinery and equipment:
Unloading of machinery and equipment for the Ratnagiri Gas and Power Private
Limited Power Project.
o
LNG and naphtha: Unloading of liquefied natural
gas (LNG) and naphtha.
o
Export of project machinery: Loading
for export of imported machinery and equipment imported for the Ratnagiri Gas
and Power Private Limited Power Project.
o
Shipyard operations:
Unloading of goods for the manufacture and repair of ships, barges, similar
vessels and rigs by M/s. Square Port Shipyard Private Limited.
o
Import of vessels: Import
of ships, barges, similar vessels and rigs by M/s. Square Port Shipyard Private
Limited for repair.
o
Export of vessels: Export
by M/s. Square Port Shipyard Private Limited of ships, barges, similar vessels
and rigs.

Beneficiaries
o
Ratnagiri Gas and Power Private Limited, for its
power project-related machinery and equipment.
o
M/s. Square Port Shipyard Private Limited, for
shipbuilding, vessel repairs and related import-export operations.

Taxes and Customs hereby makes the following further
amendments in the Notification No. 62/1994- Customs (N.T.)
dated the 21st November, 1994 of the Government of India, Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue),
published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii), vide number
S.O. 829 (E), dated the 21st November,
1994, namely:-
In the said notification, in the Table, against serial
number 8 relating to the State of Maharashtra, in place
of item (1) in column (3) and the existing entries
relating thereto in column (4), the following entries
shall be substituted, namely:-
