India 2026 marks India's transition from policy and project approvals toward
actual semiconductor production and ecosystem building. With 12 approved
projects, 3 already in commercial production, rising domestic demand and strong
global participation, India is positioning itself as a trusted global hub for
semiconductor design, manufacturing, packaging and electronics.
The fifth edition of SEMICON India
2026, India’s premier semiconductor and electronics conference and exhibition,
will be held from September 17–19, 2026 at Yashobhoomi
(India International Convention & Expo Centre), New Delhi. Prime Minister
Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the event on September 17, 2026, marking
the beginning of three days of high-level deliberations, industry engagement and
showcasing of India’s rapidly expanding semiconductor and electronics ecosystem.
Organised jointly by the India Semiconductor
Mission (ISM), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, and SEMI, the global industry
association representing the semiconductor and electronics design and manufacturing
ecosystem, SEMICON India 2026 will bring together global semiconductor and electronics
companies, industry leaders, policymakers, investors, researchers, academia, start-ups
and students on a common platform to exchange ideas, forge partnerships and shape
the future of India’s semiconductor and electronics ecosystem.
With the theme “Silicon to Systems: Building
the Ecosystem,” SEMICON India 2026 marks an important milestone in India’s semiconductor
journey. It comes at a time when strong policy momentum, growing industry
execution and rising global demand for trusted and resilient semiconductor supply
chains are converging to position India as an increasingly important player across
the global semiconductor value chain.
This is what makes SEMICON India 2026 much
more than an exhibition. Over three days at Yashobhoomi,
more than 600 exhibitors, including 300 international companies, will come together
across 15,000 square metres of space, alongside 150+ renowned speakers sharing their
knowledge, experience and insights. Six country pavilions and 12 state pavilions
will sit alongside a startup showcase, a student hackathon, a workforce development
pavilion and a Women’s Forum, each offering a window into a different part of the
semiconductor ecosystem that India has been steadily building over the past five
years.
Showcasing India’s Semiconductor Ecosystem
SEMICON India 2026 will adopt a comprehensive
value-chain approach, showcasing the journey from semiconductor materials
and manufacturing to advanced packaging, design, electronics and systems. The new ‘Sand to Silicon
to Systems’ Value Chain Experience will provide visitors with an integrated view of the semiconductor
ecosystem and demonstrate India's expanding capabilities across different stages
of the value chain.
The exhibition will feature six country pavilions and twelve State Government pavilions, along with a dedicated Startup Pavilion,
Innovation Showcase, Startup Pitch Competition, Student Hackathon and Workforce
Development Pavilion. The Startup Pavilion will showcase around 40 startups,
while the Workforce Development Pavilion will provide a dedicated platform for talent,
skills and career opportunities in the microelectronics sector.
The event will provide an important opportunity
for Indian and international companies to explore partnerships, investment opportunities,
technology collaborations and supply-chain linkages, further strengthening India's
position as a trusted global semiconductor partner.
Comprehensive Conference Programme
The three-day conference programme will
feature high-level keynotes, panel discussions and strategic sessions focusing on
emerging trends and critical areas across the semiconductor and electronics ecosystem,
including semiconductor manufacturing and technology, artificial
intelligence, supply-chain resilience, advanced
packaging, materials and equipment, chip design, research and development, startups,
innovation and talent development.
The programme will also include six
International Country Roundtables, a dedicated session on Women Empowerment
& Leadership, a Workforce Development Session, and a special session
titled “Stronger Together: Industry Associations Collaborating for India’s ESDM
Growth.”
The event is expected to feature participation
from leading global and Indian companies across the semiconductor and electronics
ecosystem, including ASML, Applied Materials, Teradyne, Infineon, Ebara, Jabil,
IBM Research, NXP, Tata Electronics, Micron, Merck KGaA, Rapidus,
Lam Research, CG Power, Uno Minda, Advantest, Tokyo Electron and several other
major industry players.
From Policy to Production
SEMICON India 2026 is being held at a significant
juncture in India's semiconductor journey.
Under the Semicon
India Programme, the Government has approved 12 semiconductor projects aimed at establishing a robust and resilient
semiconductor ecosystem in the country.
The progress has now moved beyond project
approvals, with three of the 12 projects approved under Semicon
1.0 having commenced commercial production. At the same time, the Union Cabinet
has approved the next phase, Semicon 2.0,
with six major pillars aimed at further accelerating the development of India's
semiconductor ecosystem.
The Government is also supporting semiconductor
research, innovation and design.
State-of-the-art electronic design automation
tools have been made available to more than 400 academic institutions and 105
startups, while 24 startups have been approved under the Design Linked Incentive
(DLI) Scheme to design innovative semiconductor products and applications.
These initiatives are aimed at developing
capabilities across the semiconductor value chain and creating a strong foundation
for India's transition towards a globally competitive semiconductor and electronics
manufacturing ecosystem.
India as a Trusted Global Semiconductor
Partner
The global semiconductor industry is undergoing
rapid transformation, driven by the expansion of artificial intelligence, digital
technologies, advanced computing, electric mobility, telecommunications and other
emerging technologies. At the same time, the need for diversified, resilient and
trusted semiconductor supply chains has assumed greater importance.
Against this backdrop, India is emerging
as a significant destination for semiconductor design, manufacturing, research,
innovation and investment, supported by progressive government policies, a large
pool of skilled professionals, strong domestic demand and growing interest from
global industry.
The global semiconductor market, valued
at around USD 796 billion in 2025, is projected to surpass USD 2 trillion by 2030.
India’s semiconductor demand, currently estimated at around USD 50 billion, is projected
to reach around USD 103 billion by 2030, highlighting the country’s significant
growth potential in the semiconductor sector.
The theme “Silicon to Systems: Building
the Ecosystem” captures India’s transition from building credibility to demonstrating
capability across the semiconductor value chain. The event aims to accelerate collaboration,
investment, innovation and ecosystem integration, while strengthening India’s position
as a trusted global partner in the semiconductor industry.
SEMICON India has evolved into an important
annual convergence point for global industry leaders, policymakers, researchers,
start-ups and investors. The 2026 edition seeks to build on this momentum by providing
