CRO on Standalone Hard Disk Drives will be Implemented only from 1 May 2027, Six Months Extended in 05 November Date

Subject: Extension in timelines for the implementation of the order for Standalone Hard Disk Drives included in the schedule of CRO vide S.O. 2204(E) dated 05.05.2026 published in Gazette of India

S.O. 5689(E).— Whereas in exercise of the powers conferred sub-section (1) and (2) of section 16 read with sub section (3) of section 25 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016, (11 of 2016), the Central Government, vide S.O. 2204(E) dated 5th May 2026, published in Gazette of India, had substituted "USB Type External Hard Disk Drives" with “Standalone Hard Disk Drives” at Sl. No 50 of the Schedule of the “Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirement of Compulsory Registration) Order, 2021” for compliance to IS 13252: Part 1 : 2010. The date of coming into effect of the Order was 05th November, 2026.

It is hereby notified that the date of implementation of the Order notified vide S.O. 2204(E) published in Gazette of India on 5th May, 2026 stands extended to 1st May, 2027.
