Phased Manufacturing Programme (PMP) for Three More Mobile Parts Introduced

· Parts and Imports of the Three Parts Exempted for Manufacture

· Pressure on Industry to Manufacture Mobile as well as their Parts

· Chargers, Battery, Wired Head Sets and USB, Cable and 27 others already Covered in PMP

WHEREAS the Central Government on being satisfied that the import duty leviable on populated, loaded or stuffed printed circuit boards, falling under tariff item 8517 70 10 of the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 (51 of 1975), should be increased and that circumstances exist which render it necessary to take immediate action.

NOW, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 8A of the said Customs Tariff Act, the Central Government, hereby directs that the First Schedule to the said Customs Tariff Act, shall be amended in the following manner, namely:-

In the First Schedule to the said Customs Tariff Act, in Section XVI, in Chapter 85, against tariff item 8517 70 10, for the entry in column (4), the entry "10%" shall be substituted.

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act,1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following further amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), No. 57/2017- Customs, dated the 30th June, 2017, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (i), vide, number G.S.R. 798 (E), dated the 30th June, 2017, namely:-

In the said notification, in the Table,-

(i) after serial number 5 and the entries relating thereto, the following serial numbers and entries shall be inserted, namely:-

(ii) against serial number 6, in column (3), the items (i), (ii) and (iii) shall be omitted;

(iii) after serial number 6 and the entries relating thereto, the following serial numbers and entries shall be inserted, namely:-

(iv) in the Explanation for the words „For the purposes of this notification‟, the words and figures “For serial numbers 7A, 7B and 7C of this notification” shall be substituted.

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, on being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following further amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 24/2005-Customs, dated the 1st March, 2005, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (i), vide number G.S.R. 122(E), dated the 1st March, 2005, namely :-

In the said notification, in the Table, for serial number 13S and the entries relating thereto, the following serial number and entries shall be substituted, namely:-

“13S	8517 70 10	All goods other than Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) of cellular mobile phones”.

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, on being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following further amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 25/2005-Customs, dated the 1st March, 2005, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (i), vide number G.S.R. 123(E), dated the 1st March, 2005, namely :-

In the said notification, in the Table,

(i) against serial number 13, for the entry in column (3), after the words “Digital still image video cameras”, the words “other than camera or camera module of cellular mobile phones” shall be inserted;

(ii) against serial number 16, for the entry in column (3), in item (i), after the words “Digital still image video cameras”, the words “other than camera or camera module of cellular mobile phones” shall be inserted;

(iii) against serial number 22, for the entry in column (3), after the words “printed circuits”, the words “other than connectors of cellular mobile phones” shall be inserted;

(iv) against serial number 23, for the entry in column (3), after the word “cables”, the words “other than connectors of cellular mobile phones” shall be inserted.

[Customs Notification No. 40 dated 2^nd April 2018]

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962) and sub-section (12) of section 3 of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 (51 of 1975), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following further amendments in the notification of the Government of India, in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), No. 50/2017-Customs, dated the 30th June, 2017, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (i), vide number G.S.R. 785(E), dated the 30th June, 2017, namely:-

In the said notification,-

(i) in the Table, against serial number 502, for the entry in column (3), the following entry shall be substituted, namely:-

“Digital Still Image Video Cameras other than Camera or Camera Module of cellular mobile phones”;

(ii) in List 20, for the word “Connectors”, at both places where they occur, the words “Connectors other than those of cellular mobile phones” shall be substituted.
