Textile Recycler to
Open Manufacturing Facility in Vietnam
Spain-based
company Recover says its facility is equipped to produce 10,000 metric tons per
year of recycled cotton fiber and polyester blends.
Recover,
a Spain-based producer of recycled cotton fiber and
cotton fiber blends, recently opened its latest
manufacturing facility in Vietnam.
The
facility is set to be operational early this year and will pioneer Recover's
large-scale recycling technology in the growing Vietnamese textile production
market.
Situated
in the Dong Nai province, the factory’s location was
chosen because of Vietnam’s significant role in the global textile industry as
the third-largest textile exporter in the world, according to Recover. With its
new facility, the company aims to position itself close to both textile scrap
sorting and manufacturing operations, reducing the costs and footprint tied to
shipping. Recover says the move also enables it to serve as a global partner
for the industry’s demands, supplying brands in all major textile production markets
with timely and efficient access to its materials.
Recover
says its plant will feature its highly optimized recycling technology and
initially operate with two recycling lines capable of providing an annual
production capacity of 10,000 metric tons. It also will include a dedicated
laboratory to maintain a consistent and high-quality product across all
facilities and a constant evolution in both product and process.
Recover
says one of the facility’s primary products will be RMix,
a recycling solution for cotton-polyester blends. The company says its process
eliminates the need to separate fibers, overcoming a
longstanding industry challenge in polycotton recycling in an energy-efficient
way.
“Our
expansion into Vietnam is a crucial step in our strategic business plan,”
Recover CEO Anders Sjöblom says. “Circularity is
currently an underutilized tool for the Vietnamese textiles industry, and by
bringing our advanced technology to a key textile hub, we are not only
enhancing how we serve our customers by expanding our global manufacturing
footprint, but also creating a positive shift towards circularity in Vietnam.”
A
fourth-generation, family-owned company with a 75-year history in the textile
industry, Recover first expanded its operations with a second manufacturing
facility in Bangladesh in 2022. The company says its new facility in Vietnam
will represent the next step in its ambitious expansion plans, which include
expanding to new global markets to meet the growing demand for recycled
materials from brands and retailers.
