US Goods Trade Deficit Up $17.4bn in July

The US trade deficit in goods was $118.8 billion in July, up $17.4 billion from $101.4 billion in June, according to an advance report released yesterday by the Commerce Department.

Exports of goods for July were $199.4 billion, $6 billion less than June. Meanwhile, good imports rose to $318.2 billion, a $11.4 billion increase over the previous month.

Commerce is slated to release its full report on the July trade balance on September 3.
