Soil Stimulant Humic Acid Fertilizer Specs Amended

[MoA Order S.O. 876(E) dated 16 February 2026]

This notification amends the Fertiliser (Inorganic, Organic or Mixed) (Control) Order, 1985 (FCO) under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.

What This Notification Does (In Simple Terms)

It updates Schedule VI, Part A of the FCO by:

Revising Specifications

It replaces specifications (composition, parameters, pH, carbon content, solubility, dosage, crops, etc.) for several categories of:

·         Humic Acid products

·         Potassium Humate

·         Humic & Fulvic Acid combinations

·         Humic substances (liquid, granular, powder forms)

·         Seaweed extracts (liquid, granular, flakes)

Introducing New Grades

Several new product grades have been inserted, including:

·         Humic Acid 53% (Granular)

·         Humic & Fulvic Acid 14% (Liquid)

·         Humic & Fulvic Acid 10% (Granular)

·         Seaweed Extract (various species and concentrations such as 5%, 8%, 22%, 99.78%, etc.)

Modifying Application Methods

In some cases:

·         “Foliar spray” has been replaced with “soil application”

·         Dosage per hectare has been revised

·         Crop recommendations have been expanded (e.g., rice, tomato, potato, wheat, soybean, cotton, chilli, groundnut, etc.)

Tightening Technical Parameters

Updated specifications include:

·         Minimum humic acid %

·         Minimum fulvic acid %

·         Total organic carbon %

·         pH range

·         Bulk density

·         Solubility percentage

·         Specific gravity

These revisions standardize product quality and reduce scope for sub-standard formulations.

Practical Impact

For Manufacturers

·         Need to reformulate products as per new % limits

·         Update labels to match revised crop/dosage instructions

·         Ensure compliance before marketing

For Importers

·         Imported humic/seaweed products must match these revised FCO specifications

For Farmers

·         Clearer dosage guidance

·         Standardized quality benchmarks

·         More product options formally recognized
